Shawn D. Walpole
Shawn has been working with computers since 1986 when he discovered a first generation Macintosh computer hidden in the basement a few weeks before Christmas. He started programming it in BASIC, and advanced later to C and C++.
Shawn completed his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2000 at the University of Utah. He also completed a minor in Computer Science, with emphasis on robotics and control systems. His additional coursework provided many opportunities to create computer software and hardware, including writing data acquisition programs in 8086 assembly language. He was the programmer for an autonomous robot hockey competition, using the MIT Handyboard and a C development environment. His experience with hardware includes signal conditioning, analog circuit design, and analog to digital converter operation. Through college jobs and courses, Shawn learned additional programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, and Scheme.
After college, Shawn spent five years at National Instruments. During his first year, he worked closely with customers as an applications engineer, supporting their work with LabVIEW, NI-DAQ, and LabWindows CVI. After that introductory year, he joined the LabVIEW development team, so he truly knows LabVIEW inside and out.
Shawn joined Moore Good Ideas, Inc. in 2005 where he enjoys applying his training as a mechanical engineer and his experience with LabVIEW.
